In the best seller, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Stephen R. Covey explains that the 2nd important habit to live effectively is to “start with the end in mind.” You may know that you want to be a huge success as a singer, or an actress, or that you want to write movies, or produce musical hits, but what does that actually mean to you? In order to make it, one must have a clear, concise and measurable goal of the end result that you plan on reaching. If you can visualize it clearly you can make the systematic plans to make it happen. But first and foremost, you must know exactly what it is that you desire. This process can be more in depth than you may initially imagine. Often people that enter the business of entertainment are born geniuses, artists, and creative thinkers that tend to want to go with the flow, and produce, and figure out the logistics and details at a later date. I’m not suggesting that you stifle your creative juices and imaginative nature. Instead, I strongly advise you to implement some structure that starts with knowing precisely what you want, and from there implementing a plan to achieve it. Additionally goals change over time so this process will more than likely need be evaluated and repeated several times. Once you have established a clear end result, it is helpful to visualize the result on a daily basis. Two books that can assist you in learning to implement visualization exercises in your life are The Secret and Think And Grow Rich. Once you know exactly what you want in the end, you can confidently begin on your path that will lead you in the direction of your dreams. Happy trails!
